Latest News....and stuff...

What a crazy week and an even crazier month this has been! So instead of moving to my favorite Tampa neighborhood, Seminole Heights, we are moving to Texas! What!!?? Hubby and I are ready for a change and although we had a great time in San Antonio when we visited last month, we think we are going to try Austin instead. I think Austin speaks more to my creative side...artists & musicians & festivals galore! I hope and think that I will find lots of inspiration while I am there.

With all of that being said, the site (i know you must be tired of hearing this by now) will be live in August...mainly because we are going to New Orleans for a few days, then to Costa Rica for a month and will not be back until almost the end of July...don't hate me while I visit volcanoes and hot springs and surf and frolic on the beach. I'll still be working (hardly). I am going to finish photographing everything before we even get to TX so that way I can spend time while on the road and out of the country editing and finishing up the web content.

I will boldly boast that the site will be live August 3, 2009! That is a promise.

Lying in Wait

I have decided over the weekend that there is no way my website can be launched this month. I have had trouble with scheduling models, photo edits, and now my husband and I are moving in a few weeks. I have so much to do and so little time to do it. In the mean time I will be figuring out photoshop and packing boxes.
New tentative launch date......July 1st! Stay tuned and keep reading this blog for store news.

Chanel Pre-Fall 2009

This video is ethereal and inspirational. A great way to start off the week. Found it as I was doing my morning blog reading.

I Feel Inspired...

As I write this, I am watching a Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton documentary (2007) on the Sundance Film Channel. I feel so inspired to be creative watching the great Mr. Jacobs (pre-makeover…see above pic) as he works as artistic director of the Louis Vuitton line in Paris, France. Appearances are made by Naomi Campbell, Anna Wintour, Uma Thurman, and Sofia Coppola. Anyone who loves fashion should view this documentary. I am probably the only late one! I started thinking about a line that I have thought about creating for quite some time. I barely have my own website up for the boutique and am already thinking of future plans for my brand.

It will be a line of vintage 1970s-inspired dresses made from recycled & vintage materials to be sold on the site. Since that is my favorite era, I feel that my designs should reflect that. I am thinking that it will be ready for launch in Spring 2010. I already know what my line will be called, but will bequeath that little tidbit of information as we get closer to the release date. I have got to get to work. Right after I finish watching this documentary! au revoir…

MyshMash At Play

MyshMash Vintage had a great photoshoot on Wednesday with new models Denise and Gillian. They are both aspiring models and I must say that they did a terrific job!

Below are a few shots from the shoot that will be a part of the MyshMash LookBook scheduled for release to our website this summer!

MET Costume Gala 2009

The Metropolitan Mueseum of Art held its annual Costume Institute Gala on Monday and many celebrities wore vintage designs that were absolute jaw droppers! There were many, but because I do not like being mean I will only post my top 3 favorites.

Let's start with Eva Mendes in vintage Calvin Klein. She looks stunning and the fit is immaculate. Eva is usually a hit or a miss, but this time she was right on target.
Marissa Tomei looked absolutely heavenly in this 1940's Gilbert Adrian frock.

Shalom Harlow gets an A++ for pulling off this vintage Bob Mackie design. Mackie is best known for designing Cher's costumes over the decades and for his exclusive designs of high-priced Barbie dolls. This is a costume gala after all and Ms. Harlow wore it well.

She Works Hard For The Money

My inventory log is complete! Until I go shopping again, but wow...that took forever. I have 2 models coming tomorrow and I have everything ALMOST ready for the shoot. I am super excited and looking forward to my first MyshMash Vintage photoshoot...well, my second, but the first one was practice and we didn't have proper lighting, etc. Shout out to Street Beatz in San Antonio, TX!

I still have some garments that need to be sewn or cleaned, but I feel so accomplished and ready. I can't wait to start editing my photos and loading them up to my website....oh yeah, the website. I need to work on that too. I think I will make my May 18th deadline.

MyshMash Monday! May 18th! Stay tuned...

Furs...To Wear or Not to Wear?

While awaiting the opening of my boutique, I thought I'd talk about something I have been a bit conflicted with. Furs! I love them! Not new ones, only vintage. Some say, "But it's the same thing! Animals have still been tortured, beaten, etc.!" I know it's heartbreaking and I deplore its practices, but every time a vintage fur is bought and worn, aren't less new furs being purchased and therefore cutting down on how many new animals are being killed in the name of fashion? I do NOT support the industry and I respect the opinion that vintage furs are as bad as new ones, but for those that wear furs, I always encourage to buy vintage to help reduce the growing number of slaughtered animals.

Spread the word....Wear Vintage Fur and wear it with pride! (and it's cheaper than buying a brand new one) You are recycling and paying tribute to styles of the past. It is your perogative whether or not you choose to wear furs, but don't judge those that do because, after all, it is a choice.

It's May!

Where did the time go? I have had quite a bit of interest in my store and it's not even up and running yet! (pressure) I do have 3 beautiful models that I will be shooting in the next few weeks and I am nervous for my launch because I want everything to go just right. I am shooting for May 15th, but that only gives me 2 weeks to develop my website that I have barely begun. Ambitious? Maybe. But I think I can do it....I just won't sleep or eat until I get it done:0) Vintage fashion waits for no one! In the mean time, check out another preview of items that I will have in my store......ciao!

It's Coming Along!

So...I finally ordered my studio lighting equipment on Monday and it will be here next Monday, but I wanted to start shooting my models Monday:0( ---you know UPS won't get here till 7pm. There is a beautiful park near my apartment with lots of oak trees and plenty of space, but where will my models change? I am going to visit the location tomorrow to figure that out. It would make for great editorial photos. I got alot more measuring done today and more to attack tomorrow, but I will be done this week (if I stop shopping until next week). Spoke to a few web design people today...not as daunting as I originally thought, but still out of reach at the moment. One day at a time...

all of my hard work will pay off...

Welcome to the preview of MyshMash Vintage!

I have finally organized my vintage clothing collection so that it will be easier for me to log everything. I have been taking measurements & coming up with descriptions and prices, taking photos & editing photos...meanwhile running after my 17-month-old boy who insists on getting into everything possible right when I think I am gaining momentum.

I have such great vintage pieces that I want to show off and it is coming....slowly, but surely. I am getting models and maybe even assistance....(i think i may need it at this point...my husband helps...sometimes).

Meanwhile...stay tuned! I plan to list new items by May 4th! (***fingers crossed***)
